Cargill and TEV partner to launch holistic program aimed at raising future women leaders
Cargill in partnership with TEV, launched a new program, “60 Leaders For/Of Future” aimed at providing more than 60 woman with internships, mentorships, project competitions, workshops, plant tours, and educational networking events with Cargill leaders. As part of the program, 66 women have already received scholarships to attend university. This program aligns with Cargill’s 60th year of being operations in the food, Bioindustrial and animal nutrition space in Turkey.“At Cargill, we believe women play a significant role in global economic development – as employees, entrepreneurs, farmers, educators and learners,” said Murat Tarakçıoğlu, managing director of Cargill Foods Middle East, Turkey and Africa. “We are not only prioritizing gender parity within our company, but also in our communities.”
The program’s holistic approach goes beyond a financial scholarship and aims to prepare participants for their future careers after university. Of the 66 participants, the women’s focus areas include a variety of degrees – 48 studying to be engineers, 10 in the veterinarian program and 8 law students. Investing in and supporting women through education will more than financial support will set them apart and help diversify the food industry in Turkey.
Cargill aspires to achieve gender parity in leadership positions by 2030, and has already taken numerous measures to advance its efforts in recruiting, retaining, developing, and promoting women. Cargill expanded its commitment to gender parity beyond its company and into its supply chains and communities through programs like this one in Turkey. This ratio is 33% in Cargill Turkey leadership. We aspire to reach 50% in Turkey by continuing to increase the number of women leaders. We are committed to doing the important work to make gender parity a reality.
